RansomAway version 1.0 Prevents the Petia Ransomware from attacking. It has been discovered that the Petya Ransomware checks for a read-only file, C:\Windows\perfc.dat, and if it finds it, it wont run the encryption side of the software. One of ways to fight Ransomware is to 'immune' a PC against it.
That is what RansomAway does. This tool creates a dummy readonly file by that name that makes Petia think the PC was already being attacked. By Michael Haephrati, Secured Globe, Inc.
