How to Restore a Windows 10 Computer to an Earlier Restore Point

You may want to restore Windows to a restore point when you start experiencing some issues while using the operating system. When you restore the computer to a previously created restore point Windows rolls the computer settings back to the state when the restore point was created hence giving you a fresh and error-free operating system to work with.

Regardless of the type of the restore point (system created or created by you manually) you choose to restore your PC to it would only revert the settings of the operating system back to the earlier state. None of your personal files are erased or modified during the system restore and therefore all your data remains safe.

However if you have installed or uninstalled any additional program after creating a restore point restoring Windows to that restore point would affect the existence of the software. In other words if a software was installed after creating a restore point restoring Windows to that restore point would automatically remove the software from the PC. Likewise if you have uninstalled any program after creating a restore point restoring Windows back to it would bring the software back as well.

After understanding the restore points and their benefits and downsides in order to restore your Windows 10 computer back to one you must follow the steps given below:

  1. Sign-in or log on to your Windows 10 computer with an account having administrative privileges.
  2. When you are on the desktop window click the File Explorer icon from the taskbar.
