How to Increase or Decrease Screen Brightness in Windows 10

You may want to manage the screen brightness from within the operating system when using laptops because in desktop PCs separate monitors are used and have the brightness adjustment buttons integrated in them.

Talking about the laptops many times the screen brightness can be adjusted right from the keyboard using Function keys or using a combination of Function keys and the Fn key. With such a feature the need of going all the way to the Power Options window and adjusting the brightness from there is eliminated. However this can work only if the correct keyboard driver is installed and that the driver is configured accordingly.

Note: In some cases even the standard keyboard driver allows you to manage the screen brightness using the keys.

You may need to take a close look on the keys or refer to the user manual of your laptop to know which keys or key combination is required to adjust the brightness of the screen from the keyboard.

If you are unable to use the keyboard to adjust the screen brightness you can pick the long path of Power Options but it ensures that you get the desired brightness level without any glitch.

To increase or decrease the screen brightness in Windows 10 you must follow the steps given below:

  1. Log on to your Windows 10 computer using the account on which you want to configure the screen brightness.
  2. From the desktop screen right-click the Start button.
  3. From the context menu click Power Options.
